Red Olympics Sweater: No Longer a(n) UFO

Here it is:

the red Olympics sweater.  I began it during the Opening Ceremony (well, the day before just to get a head start– but don’t tell anybody) as we listened to all sorts of familiar inspiring, people we didn’t know were Canadian.   In honor of Canada, it’s red.  Very red.

And I love it.  It’s the same pattern as the Blue Sweater from last summer’s Estes Park Wool Market, and after the blue sweater I was sure I needed a heavier yarn.  So even though I love the soft deliciousness of the Blue Sweater, I’m ready to admit that 50% silk/50% merino didn’t have enough weight for this pattern.  On my body.  (That last part is the kicker.  On someone with a few fewer, uh, shall we say, curves, it might have been fine.) 

I still love the blue sweater and wear it a lot.  But the weather has been graciously cool, waiting, I think, for me to finish the dang sweater and wear it a few times before summer hits.

So thanks, Weather.  And don’t worry about not being able to find me in the crowd at this year’s Estes Park Wool Festival– I’ll be the one sweating in my heavy wool sweater in June.
