My Thoughts are Provoked

Yesterday was a very thought-provoking day for me.

First, I heard that Murray Hill, Inc. is running for Congress.  I head their "designated human" interviewed on All Things Considered yesterday and have been thinking about it ever since.  The campaign video is at the link above.

Also, I read Rebecca Stead’s fabulous book, When You Reach Me

in its entirety because I couldn’t put it down.  (Well, except I had to for Bible study, but then I finished it.)  It won this year’s Newbery Medal.  It’s the story of Miranda, a twelve year-old in New York City in 1979.  Stead does an amazing job of painting characters, whom you feel you know, in surprisingly few words.  Plus, the concept is so cool, and well executed.

So now that my head is full of provoked thoughts, I’m off to try to be a mom and a teacher.  Wish me luck… the luck o’the Irish, perhaps?  Happy St Patrick’s Day to you.

  3. I posted the second comment with my name, thinking I would be able to delete the first one since I posted it. No such luck. Maybe if I was Irish.
So, your likely excitement at seeing you have three comments to your reflections is, I'm sure, crushed by the reality that one person is talking about something entirely unrelated in a very inefficient way πŸ™‚
