Winter Nature Study

Right after Christmas there were amaryllis bulb-kits on sale at the grocery store for three dollars.  So I picked one up and potted it right away.  Now it’s part of our winter nature study.  Each day (more or less) the kids marvel at how much it’s growing.  We measure it.  We draw it.  They have no idea of what it’s going to look like in a few weeks– I can’t wait!

  1. My grandparents used to grow those outside in Florida. The science department secretary at Houghton had such a large Amaralis that she used a ring stand to support it.

    Great idea!
